BEFORE HOLY COMMUNION:
(May be prayed before the Mass)
1. Act of faith.
Lord Jesus, I firmly believe that you are really present in the Blessed Sacrament, with your Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.
2. Act of hope.
Lord, since you have given yourself entirely to me in this Sacrament, I hope that you will be merciful with me and give me the graces which are necessary for my eternal salvation.
3. Act of Charity.
My God, I love you with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my strength and above all things, because you are infinitely good and infinitely kind; and I love my neighbor as myself because of my love for you.
4. Act of Adoration.
Lord, I adore you in this Sacrament and I acknowledge you as my Creator, my Redeemer and my Sovereign Master, as my Supreme and only Good.
5. Priest’s prayer before Communion.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, by the will of the Father and the work of the Holy Spirit your death brought life to the world. By your holy body and blood free me from all my sins and from every evil. Keep me faithful to your teaching, and never let me be parted from you.
AFTER HOLY COMMUNION:
1. Act of faith.
Lord Jesus, I truly believe that you are in me with your Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity; and I believe it more firmly than if I were to see you with my own eyes.
2. Act of Adoration.
O Jesus, I adore you, who are present in me, and I unite myself with the Blessed Virgin Mary, the angels and the saints to adore you as you deserve to be adored.
3. Act of Thanksgiving.
Sweet Jesus, I give you thanks with all my heart because you have come to my soul. Blessed Virgin, my Guardian Angel, angels and saints in heaven, give thanks to God for me.
4. Self-Dedication to Jesus Christ.
Lord Jesus Christ, take all my freedom, my memory, my understanding, and my will. All that I have and cherish you have given me. I surrender it all to be guided by your will. your grace and your love are wealth enough for me. Give me these, Lord Jesus, and I ask for nothing more.
5. Soul of Christ.
Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, heal me. Blood of Christ, drench me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me. Passion of Christ, strengthen me. Good Jesus, hear me. In your wounds, shelter me. From turning away, keep me. From the evil one, protect me. At the hour of my death, call me. Into your presence lead me, to praise you with all your saints for ever and ever. Amen.
6. Prayer to the Virgin Mary
Mary, Holy Virgin Mother, I have received your Son, Jesus Christ. With love you became his mother, gave birth to him, nursed him, and helped him grow to manhood. With love I return him to you, to hold once more, to love with all your heart, and to offer to the Holy Trinity as our supreme act of worship for your honor and for the good of all your pilgrim brothers and sisters.
Mother, ask God to forgive my sins and to help me serve him more faithfully. Keep me true to Christ until death, and let me come to praise him with you for ever and ever. Amen.
