Discerning priesthood…

“Many are called, but few are chosen”
(Mt. 22:14).

Relationship with God, says Pope Leo XVI, “is based on prayer and silence, and when cultivated opens us to receive and actively respond to the gift of vocation… it is an adventure of love and happiness.

Thus, on the basis of caring for the interior life, we must urgently recommence our vocational ministry and renew our commitment to evangelization”.

There can be no greater joy
than to offer one’s life for the Lord!

Life is rich with God’s gifts: family, friends, education, work, sports, and hobbies. The priesthood could be God’s best gift to a young man.

As a servant-leader, a priest brings people closer to God and to each other, He helps share God’s message of love, joy, forgiveness, justice, and peace with everyone.

Your frequent contact with Jesus in the Eucharist, along with your basic catechism, daily prayers, and virtues, explained in these three booklets, will help you hear God’s call.

  2. Kindly feel free to use these booklets to help discern vocations to the priesthood, whether personally or in groups. You may even “REUSE” the texts, for example, by printing them, copying them to your own website or social media, or blasting a lesson every day to your chat or email group. Another option is to simply include a link to this website in those channels.
  3. You are encouraged to create “DERIVATIVES” from these booklets, perhaps with the aid of AI, such as: lecture slides, comics, videos, songs, plays, games, translations into local languages, quizzes, and other learning tools. Altar Servers, seminarians, priests, and other educators may even come up with school or parish projects based on these booklets.
  4. Reusing and creating derivatives of these booklets, as described above, are totally free – as long as attribution is given to the author, and no profit is made (this is the gist of the “CC BY-NC” license of Creative Commons). Please inform the author of any reuse or derivative you make.
  5. For any commercial use, a separate contract with the author is required, as this falls outside the CC BY-NC license.

The author hopes and prays that even years before they apply to the seminary, Altar Servers already know their catechism well, pray regularly, and live the virtues – as part of their search for personal fulfillment and holiness.
