6. Prudence

a) What is prudence?

Prudence is the virtue that makes us ready in all situations to form right judgments about what we must do or not do.

This capacity to make right judgments can be infused in us by God as a supernatural virtue. But it can also be acquired and developed as we gain more knowledge and experience. Thus we should try to learn new things, and ask whenever we do not understand something or when in doubt.

b) Why should Altar Servers live the virtue of prudence?

Prudence equips us to make better decisions in our spiritual life, daily relationships and other duties. We become more mature and learn how to act properly in every situation, whether serious or trivial.

An Altar Server who is prudent will be trusted more by his friends. They will ask his advice in times of difficulty or doubt. In short, he will be a true big brother to them.
