8. Incarnation and Redemption.

a) What is meant by Incarnation and Redemption?

Incarnation means that Jesus Christ, who is true God, became true man and was born of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Redemption means that Jesus Christ came to save us from our sins, and gained for us the right to become children of God and enter heaven.

The least of Christ’s prayers or sufferings had an infinite value and was more than enough to gain our salvation. But he wished to suffer and die on the cross, doing his Father’s will, to show us the greatness of his love and the wickedness of sin, and to teach us to bear with the difficulties of this life.

b) Why should an Altar Server be thankful for Jesus’ Incarnation and Redemption?

An Altar Server should thank God for sending his only Son, because now we can enter Paradise by doing his will. With God’s help and through our efforts, we are now capable of rejecting temptations immediately and avoiding sin in our daily life.

We should allow God’s Redemption to work in us by praying often, going to Confession frequently and regularly, attending Mass attentively, receiving Holy Communion worthily, remembering that God is present everywhere, keeping ourselves busy, studying and working hard, and doing good deeds.
