7. God the Son.

a) Who is God the Son?

Jesus Christ, who is God the Son, is the second Person of the Holy Trinity. God the Father revealed himself fully through his Son, whom he sent into the world to teach us the way to heaven and to save us from our sins.

The Holy Bible is the written word of God, and Tradition is the teaching of Jesus handed on from age to age through his Church. It is in these twin sources—the Bible and Tradition—that we find the completeness of God’s teaching. We find the chief truths taught by Jesus Christ in the Apostles’ Creed.

b) Why should an Altar Server know and love Jesus more each day?

An Altar Server who follows Jesus will discover God’s love and share in God’s life. Jesus our brother is our model of holiness, and shows us how to love and serve our brothers and sisters as he did, that is, to the extent of laying down our lives for them.

To imitate Jesus, we need to know his life by reading the Gospel and entering into a personal relationship with him through prayer. Familiarity with his life and teachings will allow us to follow him not only on special occasions, but always.
