55. The Ninth Commandment: Purity of Heart.

a) What is the Ninth Commandment of God?

The Ninth Commandment of God is: You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife.

We should strive for purity in thoughts and desire, and not entertain or consent to temptations of impurity.

b) Why should an Altar Server know and live the Ninth Commandment?

Holy purity allows us to see our body and those of our neighbors as temples of the Holy Spirit, a manifestation of God’s goodness and power. It greatly facilitates our struggle against temptations in general.

Modesty in our thoughts, words, and actions, including the way we dress, preserves our intimacy, and inspires us to respect each other as God’s children.
