a) Who are the angels?
Angels are creatures that are purely spiritual, without bodies, invisible, and immortal. They have understanding and free will. God also gave them great wisdom, power, and holiness.
Good angels pray for us, act as God’s messengers, present our petitions before God, and serve as our Guardian Angels. The angels who became unfaithful to God were cast into hell; they are called devils and try to harm us by tempting us to sin.
b) Why should an Altar Server be devoted to the angels?
An Altar Server should thank the angels for their constant care, and ask their help especially in times of temptation. Each one of us has a Guardian Angel who especially protects us from spiritual and physical harm, and inspires us to do good in the concrete situations of our life. We should also encourage our friends to be close to the angels, especially each one’s Guardian Angel.
