3. Morning Prayer (Personal Meditation).

a) What is the morning prayer?

The morning prayer is a time of conversation with our Father in heaven, with Jesus Christ our brother and savior, with the Holy Spirit our sanctifier, with the Blessed Virgin Mary our Mother, with our guardian angel, with St. Joseph and the saints.

There is no fixed way of doing the morning prayer. We can talk with our family in heaven just like when we talk with our parents, brothers and sisters, and friends here on earth—telling them about our activities, our likes and dislikes, our plans for the day and for the future. We tell God that we love him, and that we are always ready to do his will.

b) How do we do the morning prayer?

An Altar Server may spend at least five or ten minutes in prayer before the start of classes or Mass in the morning. It is best to do it at the same time everyday and for the same number of minutes. A short prayer may be said before and after the morning prayer (see Appendix).

To pray with more devotion, it is preferable to go to a church or chapel with the Blessed Sacrament. If this is not possible, we may pray in our house or in school, trying our best to avoid distractions. using the Bible or other spiritual book is an excellent way to help us focus our attention in our conversation with God.
