15. Consideration of our being Children of God.

a) What is the consideration of our being children of God?

To consider our being children of God is to reflect on the reality that God is our Father, who loves and guides us. The best way to be happy is by asking and following our Father’s will. This we do when we pray, “Our Father, who art in heaven…”

A prince is proud of his father, the king. We should even be more proud and confident because God himself is our Father, who created all things, is the King of the whole universe, and cares for each one of us.

b) How do we consider our being children of God?

Our Father wants to be with all his children forever in heaven. He wants us to be holy, that is, to be saints, not only in heaven, but even now, by doing our ordinary and daily tasks well—our prayers, study, work, play, helping others, living a spirit of sacrifice, etc.

When something goes well in our lives, we thank God and tell him that we love him. When something goes wrong, we should not forget that God sometimes permits bad things to happen, to remind us to put more our love and trust in him.
